Section on ‘Transitional Justice and Other Fields’ – 2016 ECPR General Conference, Prague

At the ECPR general conference in Prague, the ECPR Standing Group on Transitional Justice and Human Rights organised a section on “Transitional Justice and Other Fields: The Intersection of Concepts, Theories and Empirics”.

The section brought together established scholars in the field, early career researchers as well as practitioners. The five panels, which took place on 8th and 9th September 2016, explored different aspects of transitional justice processes, including regional experiences, methodological and ethical questions in transitional justice research and the politcs of transitional justice and its implementation. One panel specifically addressed the section’s theme and explored the intersection of transitional justice with issues of just war theory, power-sharing, and violations of economic and social rights. Case studies which were discussed throughout the section included Northern Ireland, Timor Leste, Nepal, Tunisia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Rwanda and several post-communist Central European countries.

An overview of the section and uploaded papers can be found here.
