‘ROBERT ELGIE’ PRIZE

  The ‘Robert Elgie‘ Best Paper Prize, of the ECPR SG Presidential Politics, will be awarded to the best paper on presidential politics presented to the General Conference of the ECPR. Robert Clyde Elgie (23 April 1965 – 14 July 2019) was the Paddy Moriarty Professor of Government and International Studies at Dublin City University. He was elected a Member of ‘ROBERT ELGIE’ PRIZE

The 2019 ECPR General Conference is approaching!

Dear Colleagues and Friends, our annual business meeting at the ECPR General Conference in Wrocław will take place on Wednesday 4 September from 17:00-18:00 (room C403). The meeting offers a great opportunity to discuss our future plans, meet other Group members and present Tapio Raunio and Thomas Sedelius’ new book: ʿSemi-Presidential Policy Making in Europe: Executive Coordination and The 2019 ECPR General Conference is approaching!

It is with grief and sadness that we have learned of the death of Prof. Robert Elgie. A leading scholar, a great colleague, a good friend. His unique dedication to the systemic study of institutions on political outcomes, with a particular focus on semi-presidential political systems, political leadership and French politics will continue to inspire Professor Robert Elgie

‘Robert Elgie’ Best Paper Prize

The prize is awarded annually to the best paper presented at each year’s ECPR General Conference. The winner receives €250 and the deadline for nominations is September 20 2019. The winning paper is selected by chairs, discussants and participants of the Standing Group from a full ECPR member institution. Business meeting at the ECPR General Conference in Wrocław

The annual business meeting of the ECPR Standing Group on Presidential Politics will take place on Wednesday 4 September from 17:00-18:00, in room C 403. The meeting will be an occasion to review the actvities undertaken by the SG from September 2018 to Semptember 2019, plan with you the next projects, determine the future direction of the Business meeting at the ECPR General Conference in Wrocław

Our Section ““Presidentialism, Semipresidentialism, Parliamentarism and Democracy – Reconsidered?” has been accepted to the 2019 General Conference at the University of Wrocław.
