  • ECPR General Conference, Standing Group members meeting

The next ECPR General Conference, which will take place at the University of Oslo, Norway, from 6th to 9th of September, provides the perfect opportunity for Standing Group Convenors to hold a meeting for those members in attendance. The meeting of the Standing Group on Presidential Politics has been scheduled for Thursday 7 September from 12:45-14 at room GM 207.   • 2018 Joint Session of Workshops

We would like to invite you to submit individual papers for the 2018 Joint Sessions of Workshops which will take place at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, from 10th to 15th of April 2018. The call for proposals will open on August 1, 2017. Detailed and updated information on the academic programme can be found here 

The Standing Group “Presidential Politics” supports the workshop Institutional Power and Interbranch Coordination: Managing Executive-Legislative Relations in Presidential and Semi-Presidential Democraciesʾ, organised by Robert Elgie (Dublin City University) and Timothy Power (University of Oxford). The purpose of this workshop is to incentivise research on executive-legislative relations in presidential and semi-presidential democracies, 16-20 paper proposals, with two or three coming from non-ECPR institutions, will be accepted. The workshop description is here

We would like to remind you that all authors whose papers have been accepted for the “Presidents’ Role in Policy-making and Government Performance” Section (S50) at the 11th ECPR General Conference in Oslo (6 – 9 September 2017) must register and pay the conference fees by midnight UK time on Wednesday, May 17

Best Paper Prize

The 2017 Prize for Best Paper is awarded annually for the best paper presented at the ECPR General Conference. It is given to a paper that makes a substantial contribution to the field of Presidential Politics, both in terms of its originality and its academic excellence.

After the General Conference the chairs, discussants and participants of SG on Presidential Politics will be asked to nominate a paper. Chairs and Discussant should email members of the Steering Committee with the name of the paper author, paper number and title in question.

To be eligible for consideration for the prize, each nomination must be supported by one chair or discussant (or two conference participants). The nominations will be accepted for papers for which electronic copies were submitted to the conference and nominations will only be accepted from scholars from a full ECPR member institution.

The 2017 Presidential Politics prize is €250 and the deadline for nominations is 15 September 2017.

Reminder: Call for Papers, ECPR General Conference

We would like to remind you to submit individual papers or full panels (4-5 papers) for the “Presidents’ Role in Policy-making and Government Performance” Section (S50) at the 11th  General Conference which will be held from 6-9 September 2017 at the University of Oslo.

Please also note that you do not need to belong to an ECPR member institution in order to participate in the General Conference. All you need is to sign up for a MyECPR account.

The deadline for paper submission is 15th February 2017. You can submit your paper proposals (max. 150 word abstracts) via the ECPR website. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your contributions and to seeing you all at the General Conference later on next year.

Best Paper Prize
