14 / 15 September 2023:     6th Manchester Peace and Conflict Studies Conference

This year’s Peace and Conflict Studies conference in Manchester will focus on ‘Rethinking Critical Peace and Conflict Studies in a Multipolar World Order’. It will investigate the challenges of peacemaking in the emerging multipolar order and whether / how Critical Peace and Conflict Studies needs to be refocused in response. 9 December 2013 – Workshop

Prof. Douglas Fry (Prof. of Anthropology at Åbo Akademi University, Finland) will give a talk and hold a closed workshop on 9 December 2013 at the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute, University of Manchester on the following topic: “The Creation of Non-Warring Peace Systems as a Form of Peacebuilding”

 15-30 July 2014 – Summer School

Summer School in Nicosia (Republic of Cyprus), in cooperation with the University of Cyprus.

We will offer a summer school on Critical IR, Peace and Conflict Studies in Nicosia from 15-30 July 2014. This will act as a pilot for future events at various universities in other post-conflict countries.

Recent events

On September 12 and 13 the Standing Group held its Second Annual Conference at the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute at the University of Manchester in cooperation with the International Association for Peace and Conflict Studies. The theme of the conference was “Peace and Power” and attracted 120 presenters from all across the world.
