SGPM section on “Analysing Political Discourse”: Discussants wanted
Standing group Section at the ECPR General Conference, Montreal
Are you a specialist of political speeches and texts, wishing to engage in tight arguments about discourse analysis? Or are you simply curious to learn how to analyse discourses in your current research project? We are looking for discussants for the SGPM’s section in Montreal, entitled “Analysing Political Discourse: Confronting Approaches” (S03). It will deal with how discourses convey information about politics, express power relationships and contribute to frame power. It will gather 22 papers in 6 panels, covering an outstanding diversity of approaches: several traditions of discourse analysis; visual communication; manual, semi-automated and automated content analysis; narratives and frames analysis; and policy discourses.
Please contact Lea or Philippe if you can discuss a paper or a panel. In any case, come and enjoy the section!
The best two papers will be elected and displayed on our website.
In Montreal, we will also sponsor and chair a panel on “MOOCS and Teaching Innovations” within the section “Advances in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education” (S02).
