Princeton University is hiring a Senior Research Specialist (Reference Number 1600477). Reporting to the Director of the Bobst Center for Peace and Justice, the Senior Research Specialist will work with faculty members and graduate students in the Politics Department to provide statistical and technical support for their quantitative, laboratory and field research projects.

The position requires one to work closely with faculty and graduate students in the Politics Department to provide timely and creative support for research computing. The Senior Research Specialist will work both on teams and independently, requiring only general supervision.


Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social sciences required.
  • Strong background in quantitative, experimental research and statistical methods.
  • At least 2 years of extensive, independent, doctoral-level research using large datasets.
  • Must be skilled in statistical analysis of individual and macro-level data, including panel or multilevel data, and programming in Stata, R and Python and/or Java.
  • Must also have experience with, or willingness to learn, Inquisit, Qualtrics, Z-Tree and C/C++.
  • Must be well organized, flexible, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in political science, psychology, or economics preferred.
  • Experience conducting experimental research preferred.


Open Until Filled or See Position Summary. Proposed Start Date: 09-01-2016. This is a one year term position with the possibility of extension.
