Statement of the organizing committee

With great regret, we conference organizers – the colleagues from the University of Ljubljana, ECPR and our Standing Group Steering Committee – decided during an emergency meeting to postpone ECPG for one year; the next ECPG will take place in 2022 at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Regrettably and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and all the insecurities it still holds, all of us saw no chance to organize ECPG 2021 in the form we imagined: a wonderful, inspiring and relaxed space to meet, exchange and have fun together. Instead we would expect that – even if vaccination would by then be partly available – a physical conference would probably still come with many restrictions and thus fail to fulfill our hopes and expectations.

As mentioned above, we are fortunate that the local organizing team Aleksandra Kanjuo-Mrcela, Roman Kuhar, and Jasna Mikic already confirmed they will be able to host ECPG 2022 at the University of Ljubljana!

For the time being, the submission portal will be closed and re-opened next year with a renewed call for panels and proposals.

We are all aware that the postponement of ECPG comes with many challenges we need to solve over the coming weeks and months given that we deviate from the established biannual cycle. We are also aware that many of you already mobilized to compile panels, roundtables and other ideas for the next ECPG. Rest assured, these will not be lost, they just need to be stretched over a longer period of time. Thus, we sincerely ask for your understanding and a joint gender and politics community effort to create a wonderful 2022 ECPG edition.

As for 2021, we conference organizers are now looking into alternatives for virtual events that can be still organized. We will keep you posted about any decisions regarding this.
