I am an Associate Professor in Political Theory at the Department of Political Science, Lund University, specialized in democratic theory and history of political thought. Previously, I've held positions at Uppsala University, Princeton University and the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study. I have a PhD from the Centre of Excellence in Political Thought, University of Jyväskylä (2011), where I became a Docent in 2017. My main research interests lie at the intersection of democratic theory, constitutional law and electoral politics. I am also interested in 19th and 20th century political thought, ancient democracy, ideas of representation, voting rights, populism, parliamentarism and rhetoric. I have authored The History of Compulsory Voting in Europe (Routledge 2015) and co-edited Militant Democracy and its Critics (Edinburgh University Press 2019), Equal Representation (Routledge 2018) and Rhetoric, Politics and Conceptual Change (Helsinki University Press 2011). My articles have appeared in journals such as Political Studies, History of Political Thought, Constellations, Redescriptions and Critical Review of International Social and Political Philosophy.
