ecpr joint session workshop on DI and disintegration

Dear colleagues,

I hope this finds you well.

This is to inform you that the proposal for a joint session workshop on ‘Differentiated Integration – Part of the Problem or Part of the Solution’ that Markus Patberg and I recently submitted has been accepted. The workshop will take place from 24-27 May 2021, and will be fully online.

The Joint Session Workshops are a great format as anyone who has ever attended one am sure will confirm. They allow a group of scholars interested in the same topic to discuss their papers over the course of 4 days, and so provide much more space for discussion as well as more intense debate of papers and issues than the usual conference or workshop formats. The online iteration will obviously differ from regular years and ecpr has given us some freedom as to the concrete format of the workshop. We would like to include 9-12 papers over 3-4 days, so that the workshop will not eat up the entire day. We will aim at making this as online-friendly an event as possible, and also think of some social event(s) given these are an important part of these workshops.

Anyone interested in participating can submit a paper proposal between now and 26.1.2021. Whilst the workshop description focuses on differentiated integration, we are also interested in papers that address any aspect of disintegration. Paper proposals need to be work in progress (this means that they must not have been submitted anywhere by May nor be committed to other publication projects), not least so that they can be considered for publication in a potential special issue emerging from the workshop.

You can find the workhop description and submit a paper proposal here:

Best wishes, and a happy Christmas season to you all,

Sandra & Markus
