Our standing group is a growing community of students and scholars who are interested in the study of law and courts. We focus on understanding the role of courts and law in politics as well as courts as political institutions. Our group includes interests in domestic and international law and judicial bodies. Courts and other types of judicial bodies play an increasingly important role in contemporary politics in every part of the world. Developments in recent decades have led many scholars and policy-makers to speak of processes of legalization and judicialization. These developments lie at the core of this standing group’s interests. The aim of the group is to gather researchers in order to achieve a better understanding of the role of domestic and international courts, law and judicial politics. The group should be helpful in stimulating the judicial politics field regarding research issues theory, methods and data.
