2nd Joint Global Politics of Law & Courts Workshop in Oslo in 2023

We will soon invite abstracts for the European part of the 2nd Joint Global Politics of Law & Courts Workshop held in Oslo as a lunch-to-lunch meeting on September 29th to September 30th. The transatlantic workshop is held simultaneously in Europe and in the United States bringing together members of the ECPR Standing Group on Law & Courts and members of the US based Global Law & Politics Workshop. While groups in both locations will primarily engage locally and in-person, the workshop includes a hybrid session to network and to exchange research.


Law & Courts SG at 2023 ECPR General Conference

The Law & Courts Standing Group is happy to endorse a section at the upcoming 2023 ECPR General Conference. The section is: 

The Politics of Law and Courts (S58), 

graciously chaired by Yulia Khalikova and Philipp Schroeder

Winner of the 2022 Best Conference Paper Award for Junior Researchers

It is with pleasure that we announce Marius Dotzauer (University of Münster) as the winner of the Standing Group on Law & Courts’  Best Conference Paper Award for Junior Researchers for his paper titled “The effect of unfavorable decisions: Legitimacy beliefs towards different avenues for investor-state dispute resolution” presented at the 2022 ECPR General Conference section on Law & Courts.

It is with pleasure that we announce Yulia Khalikova (Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences and the University of Wisconsin-Madison) as the winner of the Standing Group on Law & Courts’  Best Conference Paper Award for Junior Researchers for her paper titled “Authoritarian Capture or Strategic Resistance? When Judges Use international Human Rights Law” presented at the 2021 ECPR General Conference section on Law & Courts.
