2nd General Conference of the ECPR Standing Group on Parliaments

Vienna, 26-28 June 2014  This conference follows the highly successful Inaugural General Conference “Parliaments in Changing Times” hosted by our colleague Shane Martin in Dublin in 2012. The conference is very likely to take place in a central location in Vienna. The local organiser will be Professor Wolfgang C. Müller of Vienna University. ECPR General Conference 2014 – Section confirmed

Glasgow, 3-6 September 2014 Section: “Legislatures in a Changing World: Rules, Agendas, Representation and Aggregation” The Standing Groups’ Convenors, Thomas Saalfeld (University of Bamberg) and Matti Wiberg (University of Turku) have secured a section on  the study of legislatures during the ECPR General Conference 2014 in Glasgow. Publications

Shane Martin, Thomas Saalfeld and Kaare Strøm are currently putting the finishing touches on the Oxford Handbook of Legislative Studies, which will hopefully be published in 2014

Joint Sessions 2014

Joint Sessions of Workshops Hanna Bäck (University of Lund) and Bjørn-Erik Rasch (University of Oslo) have been successful in their application to organise a Workshop on ‘The Evolution of Parliamentarism and its Political Consequences‘ at the 2014 Joint Sessions of Workshops

Summer School

Sam Depauw (VUB) will host the third Summer School in Brussels. The Summer School is likely to be held in August. The venue will be published on the Standing Group’s website in due course.

SG General Conference

Wolfgang C. Müller (University of Vienna) will host the Group’s second General Conference in Vienna. The conference is likely to be in May or June 2014. Further information will be published on the Standing Group’s new website in due course.

Goodbye to Co-convenor Shane Martin, hello to Thomas Saalfeld At the ECPR Joint Sessions of Workshops in Mainz, Dr. Shane Martin (Dublin City University) stood down as Co-convenor. Shane Martin has been a driving force behind the Group’s achievements.
