Teaching and Learning Summer School

One strong feature that defines both the team and all individual lecturers is the passion. And this passion for student learning is contagious, for which I think all of us are greatly thankful.

I actually found myself trying to do more and more to get prepared for the classes and so to be able to gain as much as possible from the class because I found everything we did so interesting.

It was a very good experience. I had an unpleasant teaching experience in the past, and after that I had said to myself I would never teach again. However, after coming to the summer school, I would definitely try teaching again.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to meet you and to meet each other, for sharing you knowledge and experience, for making us think and reflect and for offering (also personalized) guidance whenever we sought it. It has been a great experience and for me personally definitely a juncture which makes a difference. I do hope to stay in touch also via the mentoring program.

…the summer school raised questions which I had not thought about prior to arriving. It has enabled me to adopt a much more holistic approach to my own teaching which I am convinced will help me next term.

I learnt about many new techniques and activities in teaching, shared experience with colleagues from all around the world, and was able to discuss key topics such as assessment techniques, tutoring, and academic integrity. Yet, what we all appreciated the most was how helpful and approachable the instructors were. Overall, the Summer School was an extraordinary opportunity to re-think and greatly improve our courses. I cannot recommend it enough.

The Summer school is a must if you want to improve your teaching. Now I have a reference where I can find new ideas, teaching methods and support. Great experience.

The first ECPR summer school on teaching and learning political science was perfectly timed in preparation for my first teaching. It has been an outstanding experience in terms of content and its practicability. The coaching program attached to the summer school, in particular, proves the authentic aim of the organizers: to assist and guide prospective teachers in addressing the challenges of their new task. I am highly satisfied!
