Procedure for SG endorsement of workshops and sections at ECPR events
As recognized ECPR Standing Group we can endorse sections proposals for ECPR Conferences, and workshop proposals for Joint Sessions.
Calendar
We request proposals to be sent to the Steering Committee 3 weeks ahead of the ECPR deadline, as processing the applications within the SG steering committee takes time and because we would like to give you some time to have a chance to consider our feedback. Calls and reminders are sent via our communication tools (ECPR mailing and social media).
Criteria for endorsement
- Overall respect of the general ECPR proposal guidelines
- Overall quality of the proposal
- Fit of the proposal with the core topic of the SG (political parties)
- Inclusiveness of the proposal in terms of theoretical and methodological perspectives (potential to attract a broad range of members)
- Accommodation of diversity (gender, geographical spread, levels of experience in the discipline)
- Rotation (in terms of teams behind the proposals and of complementarity with workshops/sections from prior years)
The endorsement of a proposal by the SG does not mean automatic acceptance of the proposal by the ECPR. There are many more standing groups and proposals than available slots. The success rate is on average around 25% (1 in 4 proposals accepted).
The endorsement of a proposal by the SG is not a prerequisite to be allowed to submit a proposal. Therefore, proposals that have not been endorsed by the SG can still be submitted.
