CFP – ECPR SG Citizenship 1st Bi-annual Conference and Workshop: ‘Citizenship and democracy in (dis)integrating communities’

The ideal of citizenship and its role in building (political) communities and so democracy more broadly have perhaps never been under as much pressure as today. This is especially so against the backdrop of bespoke processes of community (dis)integration at local, national, international and cross-cutting levels. One example is the increased call for independence by “non-self-governing territories” which possess and make claim for distinct social and political identities, such as Catalonia. Another is seemingly dis-United Kingdom that is not-quite withdrawn from the European Union.
