The ECPG Steering Committee and local organisers invite expressions of interest for section chairs and section proposals for the 2024 ECPG conference. We welcome expressions of interest from early career scholars, senior scholars, and from scholars of diverse geographic locations including the Global South and Central and Eastern Europe, as well as racially minoritised and other underrepresented scholars.

You may register interest as a team of 2 or more individuals. Preference will be given to proposals that are 1) highly original and show potential to attract the interest of a wide and diverse audience; 2) are put forward by a diverse team of scholars with different levels of seniority and based in different countries and regions (chairs should not all be based in the same country); 3) promote research and scholarship at the intersections of politics and gender, sexuality, race and intersectionality.

The Steering Committee may invite proposing teams to join together if they see scope for collaboration which would benefit the wider ECPG community.

What is the role of section chairs?

Section chairs will:
o develop a more specific description of the section within the broad topics below, or propose other ones
o write a call for papers, panels and contributions to their sections,
o invite and make decisions on the format of section activities (panels, open discussions, book roundtables, etc.)
o select (accept/reject) panel and paper proposals, and
o allocate participants including chairs and discussants to panels and other section activities.

The bulk of this work will be completed between February-March 2024. This is a great opportunity to shape the conference and network with other scholars in your areas of specialism.
