SGEU Steering Committee elections

In line with our constitution, we will be holding elections to the SGEU Steering Committee to replace three of its current members who will be standing down in September.  The new members of the Steering Committee (SC) are expected to serve a term of four years and will be elected in an electronic vote of all members, conducted via the ECPR website in June 2020.

We invite nominations from any member who is willing to put themselves or – with their consent – another member forward by 1 May 2020. After that date, we will announce the nominees on our website and provide all members with the instructions for the online vote.

The Steering Committee is the key decision-making body of the standing group and meets online roughly once a month, as well as in the context of major conferences when the presence of members permits that. Key decisions taken by the SC include those relating to the organisation of our biennial conferences, the convening of dedicated sections at the ECPR General Conferences, sponsorship of proposals for workshops at the ECPR Joint Sessions and support for other SGEU activities (such as an annual summer school). In doing their work, the Chair and the members of the SC are supported by a part-time administrative assistant.

We are looking for new members to join the SC who will contribute to our work with their expertise, experience and enthusiasm, and also to bring with them new ideas for additional activities of the Standing Group.

We look forward to hearing from those who are considering to stand for membership in the new SC. Anyone who has any questions before doing so is welcome to contact any of us further further information.
